Virginia Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) Your individual donation to Food for Others of $500 or more ($889 for businesses) can reduce your Virginia State income taxes by 40% of your donation--up to $50,000 ($175,000 for businesses). Virginia Residents may support Food for Others by participating in the Virginia Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP). This program, created by the 1981 Virginia General Assembly, provides state income tax credits as incentives for individuals and businesses who contribute directly to approved, nonprofit organizations. These approved organizations include those, like Food for Others, which are designed to benefit people with incomes at or below 150% of the poverty level. Basic details are as follows:
Food for Others welcomes donations under the NAP program. The program provides donors with an opportunity to receive tax credits and Food for Others with an opportunity to receive donations for its program of emergency food services. Note- a limited number of these credits are available starting on July 1 of each year. The credits will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis. You must specifically request to participate in this program so the forms may be sent to you. Food for Others will respond to donors, provide additional forms for the NAP program, and will respond with a "Thank You" receipt for tax purposes. Individual and business donors may obtain more information by contacting us at 703-207-9173 or e-mail: info@foodforothers.org. |
